PJFC Newsletter, Issue #4 - February 21, 2025

 Remembering Eddy

It has been an incredibly sad week with the tragic passing of Eddy Millear, a much loved member of our community. 
 
Eddy began his time at PJFC in the Under 8s and quickly became known for his character and sense of fun and was widely popular with his teammates. He loved sport and developed long standing friendships with all those he played with. 
 
As his coaches have reflected, he was always the one to bring a joke and a sense of joy, lifting his team and often leaving them in stitches of laughter, always with a twinkle in his eye. 
 
On the field Eddy was a gentle giant who just loved playing the game. He was known to take a pack mark and then run around for the next five minutes smiling and basking in the glory of his feats. Eddy was fun but also had a discipline and manner that earned the respect of those around him. He was a character and a unique teammate in the best kind of way. 
 
We have a number of families at the Club who are close with the Millear family and will be grieving Eddy’s loss. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to Dimity, Spencer, Elenor and Simon on the loss of their beloved son and brother. 

 

 
Pre-Season


A reminder footy boots are NOT to be worn on Tuesday or Thursday night training. These ovals are still used for cricket and are not to be damaged.
 
Auburn High on Sunday is the exception and boots are welcome there due to the surface and oval requirements. All details for pre-season can be found on our website - click here for all the info.

 

 
Grading
 
The grading schedule has been revised based on the number of age groups requiring review. Grading training/games are necessary for kids wishing to be considered for higher ranked teams and are welcome to attend as many as they like. If your child is keen to be graded but unable to make any of the sessions, please reach out to us: ben.schauder@prahranjfc.com.au 

 

If your child chooses not to be graded, which is fine, they will be placed in the lower division team automatically.

Please Note: Training will still run the long weekend of March 9 for those who are able to attend.

Volunteers Needed

PJFC relies heavily on volunteers throughout the year in many different aspects of our club. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, but there are some in particular of which we are looking for help.

Committee Positions:
  • Sponsorship Coordinator - establishing and nurturing relationships with 2025 sponsors, which includes activations, promotions and events.
  • Grants Coordinator - Reviewing and applying for grant opportunities.
  • Marketing Support - Social media strategy and support with content creation & communication support (newsletter design).
Event helpers:
  • We are looking for event helpers to support us with planning and organising family days at Toorak Park. No experience necessary, but motivation to chip in a must 💙

Deadline for Registrations

Graded teams: Please register your child by next Wednesday 26th February to be considered for grading.
Non-graded teams: Registrations will need to close in March to allow for team and coach allocation.
 
Places may fill up sooner than these deadlines - please see team progress below for information about a particular year level. Registration will remain open during and post grading, but kids will be placed in a team at the discretion of the club if grading is missed.
 
PlayHQ Registration Error Message: If you receive the message "You do not meet the requirements to register. Please contact your club for support" - this means we have started a WAITLIST for that AGE GROUP and you won’t be able to register at that time. Please then email Peter Cotter at registrar@prahranjfc.com.au and ask to go on a Waitlist for the age group. Once we have enough players on the WAITLIST we will RE-OPEN the age group to registration

  • Under 12 - 1 team - nearly full but still open

  • Under 15/16 - on track for 1 x combined team - actively looking for players
  • Under 17/18 - on track for 1 x combined team - actively looking for players
MIXED / BOYS TEAMS
  • Under 8 - 2 teams - almost full
  • Under 9 - 2 teams - almost full
  • Under 10 - 2 teams - almost full
  • Under 11 - 2 teams - Tracking well and nearing capacity

Merchandise and Uniforms

 

The PJFC Official Uniform Shop is now open and taking Pre-Orders!

Our store currently features all game-day and training gear, with a range of new items and accessories to be added as the season approaches.

Custom training tops and hoodies are available for pre-order until 1 March 2025, with delivery scheduled for late April to Toorak Park for pick up - in time for our season launch!

Non-personalised training apparel is also available for pre-order, with additional stock ready for purchase when we welcome everyone back to Toorak Park in April.
